After a short panoramic tour of the city's northern part, we will leave Rome via the "Sun Route" motorway. Our first stop will be Orvieto, a well-kept, small medieval town famous for its cathedral. We will spend the day visiting Umbria, rich in vineyards, olive groves and quaint villages on top of the hills. The itinerary is full of charming medieval cities: Spoleto (world-famous for the "Festival dei Due Mondi"), Trevi, Foligno, Spello and the most celebrated: Assisi, the mystic city of St. Francis. The city, still surrounded by ancient walls, lays on top of the green slopes of Mount Subasio. Its rose-stone buildings, the winding narrow streets, the noble palaces, the balconies full of flowers: everything in Assisi will hold you spellbound. We will also visit the Church of St. Mary of the Angels and the Basilica of St. Francis, with their masterpieces of Giotto and Cimabue. It will be a pleasure to wander about, browsing in the small artisan shops of the old city. We will then break for lunch in a typical restaurant and afterwards make our way back to Rome. Please Note: The travel agency would like to inform its clientele that the small city of Assisi is located on top of a hill and for this reason, its streets are mostly narrow and steep Duration: one day Arrival times: return to hotel or nearby
at approximately 20.00hrs Price per person including transport by deluxe coach, visits as per the schedule with local guide, entrance fees, lunch (excluding drinks and extras), tour director during the journey: 79.00 Euros |

After a short tour of the northern part of the city, we will leave Rome via the "Sun Route" motorway. We will cross the regions of Lazio and Umbria to reach our destination: Florence. City of Etruscan-Roman origins, it flourished in the Middle Ages as a free commune. The city was further refined by the Renaissance Period and enriched by the Medici rule and Florence has since become the cradle of the Italian language. We will arrive in the heart of the city and visit the Galleria Dell'Accademia, where the original statue of David by Michelangelo is kept, together with the third "Pietà" and the Prisoners, also by Michelangelo. We will then proceed to the Cathedral of Santa Maria Del Fiore, with its magnificent dome (projected by Brunelleschi), the Baptistery with golden bronze doors by Ghiberti and also Giotto's Belfry. From here, we will walk to Piazza Della Signoria, where we can find the Palazzo Vecchio (Florence's Town Hall), the Loggia Dei Lanzi with the Perseus by Cellini and the Fountain of Neptune. After lunch, we will continue to Piazza Santa Croce. Free time will be at your disposal to visit the Church of Santa Croce (with the graves of Michelangelo, Galileo, Rossini, Macchiavelli) or to browse in some of the typical shops, such as the ancient "School of Leather". At about 17.00hrs, we will continue by coach on the Viale Dei Colli to reach Piazzale Michelangelo, where a copy of the statue of David stands. From the square, you will be able to enjoy an excellent view of the city below with the famous Ponte Vecchio.
